The legend of Jaguar's 1963 S-Type has been somewhat reincarnated in its current generation. Introduced in 2000, the new, Lincoln LS-based S-Type was designed with elements of the 1963 model combined with modern touches to create a truly unique car. There are 3 available trim levels: the 3.0, 4.2, VDP, and the high-performance R version.
Buyers can also choose among 3 engines: a 3.0-liter V6 with 235-horsepower, a 4.2-liter V8 with 294-horsepower, or the top-of-the-line supercharged version of the 4.2-liter V8 with an output of 390-horsepower. The R version travels 0-60-MPH in 5.3-seconds. 2005 S-Types receive some exterior updates, including a new aluminum hood and cleaner bumpers.
